This book is about a young Anglo Indian girl, born and raised in Calcutta, India, immigrating to Australia to continue her life. Life owes but never gives what one expects of it. Fate, Karma, Kismet, some continue to hope.
It is about living in harmony and simplicity with an extended family in India surrounded by friends, neighbours and the community of every denomination - Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish. We cared and shared and lived with togetherness way back when. How different it is today.
On reaching the age of 23, my next port of call, Australia - The Lucky Country as it was known - for me another world altogether. 2019 made 50 years of my life in this beautiful land of Australia, where my heart is, but my soul is still in India. I cherish both worlds, my city of joy and birth Calcutta, India and Australia - the land of the free.
This is no novel, but a reality of the unexpected turns and twists in life, how I deal with it daily on a spiritual and humane basis, the pitfalls, the glee, mirth and sadness. I am grateful to have experienced it all and still do.
This book is also about devotion, patience and love, hardship, ill health that came at a very late age, loneliness and the rights and wrongs of trying to live by doing right but still getting it wrong and so what, I am but a human. A book about laughter and joy, all experienced on a daily basis by the author, who has been back to India 33 times, and to Shirdi often, who has lost a lot but still laughs when her heart is filled with sadness. Enjoy if you will.
